Policies and Pool Rules
Upon Arrival
- Try to arrive 10 minutes before class.
- Your child needs to check in each time they have a lesson. The reason for this is so that we can maintain attendance record and for insurance purposes.
- Also if it is your first time with us you need to fill out our Pre-Activity Safety Questionnaire and also inform us of any special needs your child may have in order for our teachers to adopt a teaching style to cater for his/her needs.
Assessment, Performance and Feedback
- Teachers are continually assessing your child's ability and will inform the office or the parent when the child is ready to advance to the next level.
- All levels from Learn to Swim to Mini Squad will receive a certificate upon graduating to the next class which identifies what the child is competent of.
- If you require feedback on your child's performance please inform the office. Please be considerate of others by not speaking to teachers during or between classes.
Make Up Lessons
- Are only issued if the office is notified of your child's illness/absence before the lesson has started.
- Contact the office to arrange make up class.
- Make ups are only valid and usable until the end of respective term.
- No credits are given.
Pool Rules
- Good manners are expected of all participants at all times.
- Parents are responsible for children when not under supervision of a teacher or coach.
- Children must wear swimming caps.
- To create a better learning environment and for safety reasons, children are not permitted in the pool unless they are in a supervised lesson. This includes ramp area.
- Cancellation of lessons will only occur in the event of an electrical storm or lightning.
- No running, bomb diving or pushing is permitted in pool area.
- Parents are welcome to attend classes, but are requested to refrain from speaking to children or coaches while lessons are in progress.
- Parents are requested not to sit to close to your child's lesson as this can distract your child.
- Children with school sores, contagious rashes or illness eg chicken pox, whooping cough, measles will not be allowed to swim.
- Goggles - we do not encourage the use of goggles in Learn to Swim classes. Young children who have been allowed to become habitual goggle users have been observed to become quite panic stricken when accidentally immersed without them. However, because of longer times involved, swimmers in squads need eye protection, and therefore goggles are required.
- Parents of children in 50m pool squads are not permitted on pool deck.
